New\, unwrapped\, toys are needed for children from infants to age 18. In addition to toys\, donations of hats\, gloves\, scarves\, socks\, and other clothing are accepted. We are unable to use anything that is old\, opened\, or used. We are also accepting monetary and gift card donations. SUMMARY:Drug Take Back Day
DESCRIPTION:East Haddam’s Police Department participates in the DEA’s National Prescription Take Back Day. This event takes place twice a year on the last Saturday of April and October. \nDrug Take Back Day is for the public to safely and anonymously dispose of unwanted\, expired\, or unused medication. The main goal is to prevent drug misuses\, overdose and addiction by ensuring these drugs do not fall into the wrong hands. \nEHLPC collaborates with the Police Department to provide Deterra Bags and Medication Lock Bags to all attendees of the event.

The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work\, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide. \nPurpose: \n\nRaise awareness: Reduce stigma and misinformation about mental health.\nPromote mental well-being: Encourage people to seek help\, practice self-care\, and support others.\nAdvocate for change: Highlight the need for better access to mental health services\, especially in under-resourced areas.\n\nThis year’s theme is ‘access to services – mental health in catastrophes and emergencies’. DESCRIPTION:Youth Mental Health First Aid Training teaches adults how to identify\, understand & respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18. This training is FREE to all participants. Funds are provided by East Haddam Youth and Family Services through the STOP Act grant. \nWho should be trained: Parents/Caregivers\, Teachers & School Staff\, Coaches\, Camp Counselors\, Adults who work with youth\, First Responders\, Business Owners\, anyone 18+ years old \nDetails\nMay 19\, 2025 (Monday) + May 22\, 2025 (Thursday) \nThis is 2-session\, In-Person training with instructor Erica Skoutas. Light dinner will be provided. \n\nParticipants must attend BOTH sessions to become certified.\nParticipants will be required to complete a knowledge check and course evaluation.\nParticipants who complete the training will receive a 3-year certification from the National Council and will be eligible for CEU hours from the CT Certification Board\n\nRegistration\nSpace is limited!
